What is Placenta Encapsulation?
Placentophagy is the practice of consuming the placenta. Traditional Chinese medicine has been using placenta medicinally for thousands of years. It is believed to augment Qi (energy) and Xue (Blood) and therefore tonifies Yang, Yin and Jing (Vital Essence). There are a variety of potential benefits to placentophagy.
The placenta contains vitamins and minerals that may help improve mental health and wellbeing, such as vitamin B6. It produces hormones to sustain you and your baby during pregnancy and when ingesting it, it can aid the sudden decrease of hormones when transitioning from pregnancy to breastfeeding. The placenta is known to be rich in nutrients that help recovery from birth. It is also known to help stop hemorrhaging in its raw form, due to its beneficial oxytocin content.
Although current research on human placentophagy is still in its infancy, what we do know is that generally, those who’ve taken placenta capsules report fewer emotional issues, have more energy and tend to enjoy a faster, more pleasant postpartum recovery.
In the postpartum period, placenta capsules can be used to:

How will I take them?
After you give birth, I will pick up the placenta, encapsulate it, and deliver it back to you. I can prepare your placenta in a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) inspired form or raw. The amount of pills you will get from your placenta depends on the size of your placenta, size of the pills, and whether or not you'd like additional tinctures or smoothie pieces. I only prepare one placenta at a time and follow OSHA and bloodborne pathogen standards to ensure a clean and sterile environment during all stages of preparation.
