Many families want the benefit of midwifery care, but want to birth in the hospital. I totally support your choice!
As a licensed midwife, I’m able to provide services as an advanced doula. I support families prenatally and during labor with comfort measures and emotional support like a regular doula, but I can also monitor you and your baby at home during active labor. This includes taking vitals, listening to baby’s heartbeat, and cervical exams, as desired, in the comfort of your home. As labor progresses, we will decide when is best to head to the hospital and I will continue supporting you and your family as a doula until after baby arrives. What Does Care Look Like?
Prenatal:
1-2 Prenatal visits to discuss education resources and preparations, help creating your birth plan, practice movements and comfort measures that are helpful during labor, address fears and concerns, and prepare your partner to be involved.
Labor:
24/7 on call for your labor and birth starting at your 37th week of pregnancy. We will discuss signs of labor and when is best for me to join you for your birth! Labor progresses best in your own home where you feel comfortable and are able to stay rested and nourished. I will support you at home and the hospital until 1-2 hours after the baby is born.
Postpartum:
1 Postpartum visit within the first weeks after your baby is born. We can discuss baby care, breastfeeding, your emotional transition to parenthood, or the birth.
